West Bengal government has increased the amount of financial assistance under the Old Age Pension Scheme from Rs.1,000/- to Rs.1,500/- per month. The revised amount of Rs.1,500/- per month is effective from August 2026.

The Old Age Pension Scheme has been launched in 2010 by the previously formed government of West Bengal, with the objective to provide financial support to the eligibile economically vulnerable senior citizen of the state.

Eligibility criteria:- 

Age:-

•  60 years old or above.
•   55 years of age in case of physical and mental disability.

Domicili:-

• The applicant must be a citizen of West Bengal.

Note- [When only the year of birth is known, 1st July of that year or when the month is only known, 16th day of the month is to be taken as the date of birth.]

Financial support eligibility:-

The applicant should not have any relation capable to provide financial support.

Note:- [ Here relation refers  to – Son/ grand son/ husband/ wife/ parents/ unmarried daughter.]

Income status:-

The monthly income of the applicant should not exceed by Rs.1,000/-.

5. Other scheme benifits:- The applicant must not be getting benifit from any other government pension schemes.

6. Residency requirement:- The applicant should not be residing less than 10 years in West Bengal.

 Note- [The government may relax the residential condition in case of where undue hardship is caused.]

Who are not eligibile for WB Old Age Pension Scheme?

• The beggars and the mandicants of urban areas should not allowed to get benifits from this scheme.
• The applicants who are already getting benifits from any other state or central government’s pension schemes ( Widow Pension, Farmers Pension, Disability Pension, Political Suffers Pension etc.) shall not be eligible for pension under this scheme.

Monthly Financial assistance

Monthly allowance of Rs.1,500/- will be credited directly to the beneficiary’s bank account.

2 different ways for applying old age pension scheme in WB

1. Rural areas:- Collect and submit the application forms at BDO office or concerned Gram Panchayat office.
2. Municipal (outside KMC):- Collect and submit the application forms at Municipality office or SDO office.

1. Aadhar & Voter card xerox
2. Income certificate (Self Declear)
3. Resdential Certificate (Self Declear)
4. Bank passbook xerox
5. Passport size Color photograph
6. Caste Certificate (for SC/ST) 

How to Fill Old Age Application Form

• At first fill personal details like- Your name, gender, date of birth, father’s name, mother’s name and spouse name( if applicable).
• Then enter personal identification numbers like- Aadhar number & Epic Voter ID numbe.
• Fill the address details and contact details including number of years dwelling in West Bengal.
• Put land details in case of dwelling house.
• Add Aadhar linked bank account details like- bank name, branch name, account number and IFSC code.
• At last fill up the self declaration portion of the application.
• Then review the form carefully and read the instructions. Attach self- attested copies of required documents with the application and paste passport size photograph on front page of the application.
• Then submit it to the designated office.
