SIP Calculator – Calculate Your Mutual Fund SIP Returns

A systematic investment plan (SIP) lets you invest a fixed amount in a mutual fund at regular intervals. The Moneygita SIP calculator online helps you estimate your potential corpus from a monthly investment, an assumed annual return and your chosen investment period. It demonstrates how regular investing and compounding may work together over time.

This monthly SIP calculator is an educational planning tool. Actual mutual fund returns vary with markets, expenses, taxes and the timing of transactions.

How to Use the Moneygita SIP Calculator

  1. Enter the amount you plan to invest each month.
  2. Choose an estimated annual return. This is an assumption, not a guarantee.
  3. Select your investment period in years.
  4. Optionally enable inflation adjustment to estimate purchasing power in today’s money.
  5. Optionally enable annual step-up if you expect to increase your SIP each year.
  6. Review the live summary, charts and year-wise projection, or download the report.

How SIP Returns Are Calculated

For a fixed monthly SIP, this SIP return calculator uses the standard future-value formula for payments made at the beginning of each month:

FV = P × [((1+r)n − 1) / r] × (1+r)

Here, P is the monthly SIP, r is the monthly return rate (annual return divided by 12), and n is the number of monthly investments. When step-up is enabled, the calculator processes every installment separately and increases the SIP only after each completed year.

SIP Calculation Example

Suppose you invest ₹5,000 per month for 10 years and assume a 12% annual return. You would invest ₹6,00,000 in total. Under the standard beginning-of-month SIP formula, the estimated maturity amount is approximately ₹11.62 lakh. This is an illustration; actual returns are market-linked.

SIP and Inflation

Inflation reduces what money can buy over time. For example, ₹1 crore received after 20 years will generally not have the same purchasing power as ₹1 crore today. A SIP calculator with inflation discounts the future corpus by the selected inflation rate to show an estimate in today’s money. It does not simply subtract inflation from the investment return.

What Is a Step-Up SIP?

A step-up SIP increases your monthly contribution periodically, usually once a year. If income rises over time, increasing the SIP may help you contribute more toward long-term goals. This step up SIP calculator uses the annual percentage you select and applies it to the next year’s monthly installments. It therefore works as a SIP calculator with yearly increase, without using a shortcut approximation.

Benefits of SIP Investing

  • Builds a consistent investing habit.
  • Allows small, regular investments instead of requiring a large lump sum.
  • Provides the potential benefit of long-term compounding.
  • Reduces the need to time every market entry.
  • Can be increased over time through a step-up SIP.

SIP Calculator FAQs

What is SIP?

A systematic investment plan is a method of investing a fixed amount in a mutual fund at regular intervals, commonly every month.

How is SIP return calculated?

A SIP maturity calculator compounds each installment for the time it remains invested. This calculator assumes the SIP is invested at the beginning of each month and converts the selected annual rate into a monthly rate.

Is SIP return guaranteed?

No. Mutual fund returns are market-linked and are not guaranteed. Calculator results are estimates based on the assumptions entered.

What is a good SIP duration?

The appropriate duration depends on your goal, time horizon and risk tolerance. Longer periods provide more time for compounding but do not guarantee a particular outcome.

Can I increase my SIP every year?

Many mutual funds and platforms allow a step-up facility. Availability and rules depend on the provider. You can model an annual increase with this SIP investment calculator.

What is a step-up SIP?

A step-up SIP raises the regular contribution by a chosen amount or percentage at set intervals, commonly once each year.

Does this calculator include inflation?

Yes. Enable “Adjust for Inflation” to see the estimated purchasing power of the future corpus in today’s money.

Can SIP make ₹1 crore?

It may be possible under certain contribution, return and time assumptions, but market returns are uncertain. Use the SIP calculator India tool to explore scenarios, not as a promise of results.
