GNM Course Duration

The duration of the GNM course in West Bengal is about three years including theoretical as well as practical training. The main objective of this course is to prepare qualified nurses for the health care services of the state. Through this course, students learn medication administration, and wound care and gain adequate knowledge and skills for primary nursing care.

In addition to this, students are taught about midwifery, health promotion and community health nursing in both technical and practical ways. These courses are taught by experienced teachers. These teachers are well-versed in nursing practice and technology.

Upon completing this GNM nursing course, students must pass a state-level exam to obtain a nursing license. After students get this license, they get the opportunity to work as a nurse in public and private healthcare institutions. Currently, the demand for trained nurses is out of proportion.
